Setting Out

It's only been two days since we started and we have already done so much! I'm taking advantage of a quiet moment before bed to tap out a post on my phone. I am trying to make good use of Wi-Fi while I have access to it!

Yesterday we scrambled to get everything packed and in El Jeepo (Aaron's Jeep Cherokee) before heading out west. We hit our first traffic jam and had our first argument before we got out of the Greater Des Moines Area. That's alright, get all the bad stuff out of the way early, am I right? Once the traffic was flowing and I got a snack, things were looking up.

We got to Lincoln, NE about three hours later and grabbed some dinner with our good friend, Casey Brown, whom I have had the pleasure to know since elementary school. We got a tour of the lovely chiropractic office that she and her husband, Dr. Spencer, opened last summer.  They are truly passionate about helping people live healthy and full lives through chiropractic care and it definitely shows. If you're ever in Lincoln and need an adjustment, Adjusted Life Chiropractic is the place to go! (They didn't even pay me to say it!)

This morning we woke up early and grabbed a bite to eat at Bagels and Joe before saying our goodbyes and hitting the road again.  The drive was misty and overcast, but otherwise smooth.  Around lunch time we pulled off the highway for a quick snack/bathroom break at a gas station called Wagon Wheel and walked into a possible attempted robbery? All we know is that there was a man with a heavy accent asking the woman at the cash register for money. When we heard that, we wandered as far toward the back of the shop as possible until the coast was clear. The poor cashier seemed just as confused as we were, but everything seemed fine.  Exciting times in the wild west!

We reached Aaron's grandparents' (Don and Ella) home in Fort Morgan, CO. Aaron's uncle Nathan and his cousin Forrest were there as well so we got to catch up with them before dinner.  Don is an AMAZING amatuer photographer and he and Ella are true adventurers. Their home is a museum.  Don gave me a tour and showed off the framed photographs before I sat at the dining room table and listened to Ella tell stories about their travels. I hope to be able to say that I am half as well-traveled as they are someday.

Aaron's uncle John joined us and we went to a small steakhouse for a very tasty dinner. When we got home we enjoyed some homemade cheesecake provided by Nathan and a bottle of sparkling Moscato provided by John as an early mother's day celebration.

Tomorrow we head into Denver early to pick up our campervan! Then the adventure truly begins!
